BBL before and after π
No, I didnβt get surgery and I am not shaming anyone who has or wants to get surgery. I respect everyone's choice.
I too want to enhance parts of my appearance. It's not superficial. It's human! There is no shame in that. Although I do exercise consistently because of the health benefits, there are also the physical changes that happen. And I want those too!
In addition to body recomposition of lowering body fat and increasing muscle and strength, Iwant to have a nice booty! Am I right?!
I have been consistently working out for 10 years, however it has been in the last 3 years that my booty and legs have transformed.
I call my version of booty enhancement - Boring Butt Lift! - BBL
Photo included below! - but keep reading :)
Boring because it takes SLOW and consistent discipline.
Boring because I need to do the same kinds of exercises over and over again.
Boring because there is really nothing exciting about the process and it takes a LONG time. Muscles are not built in that 90- day challenge.
Boring because it's not just showing up at the gym for your workout. It also requires other parts of your life to be boring. Like eating specific foods and specific quantities - and NO, I DO NOT count calories, but I do measure a lot of my foods.
Boring because growing muscles also requires REST and RECOVERY. Adequate sleep, and slow movement. It means that I make decisions in my life around the goals I have. I avoid doing things that will make me feel like shit and make it harder for me to show up.
I will tell you what though - boring is worth it. Boring is actually more common than you think. You are able and capable of doing boring.
Let me prove it to you!
Any degree you have under your belt - there have been so many boring moments along the way, but you did it anyway, cause - degree - hellooooo!
Your job - at least 50 % of those tasks you do are Boring! But you show up and do it anyway - cause - Money!
Traveling to your vacation - Boring!!! - you do the drive, take the plane, anyway cause - You want to get to that destination.
Think about how many other boring things you do just to get to the other side of what you REALLY want.
It's the same thing with exercise!!!
The thing is that there are SO many misconceptions about what it SHOULD look like and feel like and how LONG it should take.
Let me share with you a few ways I have managed to stay consistent over the years. I share these tips with my clients all the time, and I hope some of these will serve you as well:
1. I donβt expect to be motivated to work out every time. Sometimes it just sucks and I let that be the truth for me. I don't expect to be excited, or for it to be fun. I still show up!
2. I look for places where I can be surrounded by other people and an instructor. Not until recently have I started to workout by myself at least 1x a week. It makes me feel better when I am in a shared experience with others - even if I don't know them.
3. I buy clothing that I am excited to wear. Listen to music that does bring me joy.
4. I noticed that I just like how I feel after I am done with my workout. I have never regretted a workout I didn't want to go to after it was done. That's the crazy part - delayed gratification.
5. The most important and maybe the most boring of all - Long term health! Sometimes it can be hard to plan and actively work on something we are not experiencing yet. Maybe we do this with money - in preparing for retirement, but we certainly do not do this for our health!
Here are some of the benefits of growing and maintaining your muscles and having lower body fat - more specifically visceral fat (the fat around your belly and in your abdomen around your organs.)
Better metabolic health - think blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure
Stronger bones as you age - think avoiding falls and breaking your hip
Lubricated joints - think not being in pain when you walk, sit, sleep for too long
Better heart health - think being able to walk up the stairs without being completely winded
Better digestive health - you can't lie, it feels good to poo and to eat and not feel bloated and like crap all the time
Better quality of life - think being able to do what you want, when you want. You don't need to skip outings, activities, family vacations because you cannot trust your body
These are important to me. I don't want to take what I am able to do with my body for granted. I see it with my own eyes, and you probably do too, how older people in my life have lost their muscle and are just skin and bones. How they are so fragile and can barely do things they enjoy. How they have lost their ability to be autonomous. And look, I am not God. I have no idea what is going to happen in the future. But if I can do a few things to help myself now and later - then I think I am worth that, and you are too!
One time I told my client that when we are younger our bodies know what to do - it got you - and as we get older we need to TELL it what to do. How you exercise is one of those ways.
Last two things I will leave you with.
1 - Depending on the results you want and what you are looking for, randomly exercising will not get you there. I used to think that if I just moved my body it was good and would get me the results and that's just not true. One of the most mind blowing things I learned is that you need a plan! I have been working with a personal trainer for the last 3 years and I really credit him for helping me get to where I am.
2 - How you eat is just as important as the exercise. You will literally throw your hard work at the gym away if you do not eat to match your goal. Here I want to thank myself LOL. I had to switch the way I was eating to match my goal and workout activity. I am certainly not perfect, nor do I want to be. But I am consistently disciplined :)
I know it can seem overwhelming at first to start and commit to what seems like such a permanent journey. But you can do it, one small step at a time is REALLY worth it and adds up. Trust me!
So tell me - what thoughts did reading this bring to you?
I REALLY do love when you let me know what you got from this post - send me an email hola@naihomyjerez.com . Thank you in advance for the reciprocity. Hit reply and let me know.
